INFO

"In the near future, the insects will become the basis for obtaining of many substances that are biologically active. Baculoviruses, specific to Lepidopterans, are suited for recombination, being able to produce various biologically active substances, which are already used for obtaining high quality vaccines, interferon and insulin. There is, however, the possibility of obtaining these substances by extracting them directly from the body of the insect. Usually the insects have four stages of development - egg, larva, pupa and adult - during which radical changes regarding their chemical composition take place. One must know which biological active substances are to be found at a certain stage of development. Exact calculations are, of course, necessary, as well as precise and rapid actions, in order to pinpoint and extract the respective substance."
